It’s been six weeks since my little bundle of joy, Miss Haven, was born. This means, for about six weeks I’ve been camped out in the house wearing leggings or sweatpants, sans make-up with my hair in a ponytail. Frankly, my daily presentation has been quite embarrassing. When Haven was one week old I gave myself exactly six weeks to pull myself together and start putting an effort to my daily wellbeing and appearance.
Leading up to now I’ve been achieving small victories to prepare myself for the deadline. For example, I’ve showered almost every day since week three and started a new Mary Kay skin regimen. In week four, I started walking on the treadmill three days a week and got a haircut and color. Last week I tried on my biggest pre pregnancy jeans, nearly cried, and then bought a Tae Bo DVD and a LivingSocial voucher for 2 months of yoga.
Since I think it’s going to be a few weeks before I even attempt the jeans again I decided I’d share my experience with the Mary Kay products that were generously provided for me by my new Mary Kay representative, Alice.
With all of the beauty products available these days, I have to admit that I kind of forgot about the timeless beauty staple, Mary Kay. I mean, moms use Mary Kay… Wait. Moms use Mary Kay…
At exactly the same time, I realized that I am now a mom, I also realized there has to be a good reason why her products have been around for 50 years, and have over 2.5 million Independent Beauty Consultants who swear by them. I was delighted when Alice asked me to review the TimeWise Miracle Set and jumped on the opportunity to unveil myself as a hot mama with a clear, refreshed face when I decide to rejoin society.
According to Mary Kay:
“The TimeWise Miracle Set provides incredible age-fighting results to help you maintain younger-looking skin. The set of four incredible products delivers 11 age-defying benefits in one skin care regimen: cleanse, exfoliate, freshen, energize, hydrate, smooth, firm, soften, protect, rebuild and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.”
According to a new mom with limited time (me):
The TimeWise Miracle Set is a great way for gals, like me, who prefer to spend as little time as possible on beauty regimens. It’s kind of like my pre-new year’s resolution mentality: diet and exercise require too many steps to getting skinny. I wanted the short cut. Same with my beauty regimen. If there were multiple steps, you could count me out. The TimeWise Set is a perfect solution, and baby steps to great skin with little commitment.
The Set includes a Cleanser, Moisturizer, a Day Solution and a Night Solution. The Cleanser is a cream base, so it doesn’t foam, which I normally prefer. But it does leave your skin feeling clean, smooth (because of the exfoliator), and refreshed. I’d recommend using a make-up remover to remove mascara before using the Cleanser. In the morning, after cleansing, I apply the Day Solution that has built-in sunscreen to keep my skin protected the entire day. This is great because I normally wouldn’t apply sunscreen, and guess what? Sunscreen should be applied everyday regardless if it’s sunny outside!
In the evening, I apply the Night Solution after cleansing. This is my favorite step because it includes a super cool ingredient, an “age-fighting peptide”, that “enhances the production of new collagen to smooth and firm the skin”. Translation: while I’m getting my zzz’s, this product is working overtime against those crows feet that I’ve recently found walking on my face.
After either solution I apply the Moisturizer that basically locks in the great feeling that comes from the serums and leaves my face feeling radiant and fresh-looking without having to put on make-up!
I’ve only been using the TimeWise Miracle Set since January 1 and already feel like my face is more radiant and fresher-looking. It almost disguises the fact that I’m getting about 4 hours total sleep each day!
My six-week post-baby lesson? Don’t try on the pre-baby jeans and don’t forget about the classics. Not only would I recommend the Mary Kay TimeWise Miracle Set, but I encourage you to try out any of the products Alice recommends. She has been more than helpful with my questions and has been periodically checking in for feedback on the progress. I never expected such amazing customer service with my wrinkle cream.

Ugh, those first six weeks (or in my case, six months!) are HARD! Lack of sleep is a killer! You cannot predict how awful it is until you are there! I give you huge props for being so proactive, Tiffany! Good luck with all your plans!
